       Emory Neurosurgery Faculty:
       Costas Hadjipanayis, M.D., Ph.D.

  Assistant Professor, Department of Neurosurgery

1365B Clifton Rd., NE, Ste. 6200
Atlanta, GA 30322

Appt. Phone: 404-778-5770
Dr. Hadjipanayis completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, simultaneously obtaining his PhD in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and comes to Emory from the medical staff of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has been designated a Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Scholar. Dr. Hadjipanayis's research interests involve pioneering treatments and imaging for patients with malignant brain tumors, and his clinical interests focus on neuro-endoscopy, awake craniotomy and cortical/subcortical mapping techniques for resection of intrinsic cerebral tumors.

Areas of Clinical Interest:
  • surgical neuro-oncology
  • stereotactic radiosurgery and brain biopsies
  • experimental therapeutics for malignant glioma
  • complex cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal instrumentation
  • microvascular decompression
  • neuro-endoscopy
  • peripheral nerve
